The lighthouse (port. farol) marks the passage between the island and the neighbouring Ilha da Barreta, the only way through for boats to Faro. The light can be seen by afar at hight. This part of the island is also called "Ilha do Farol", and the name of the popular beach on the sea side is Praia do Farol.

The western corner is also called Ilha do Farol because of its big lighthouse (port. farol). In the background you can see the quay for the ferry from Faro.

On the left side you can see the small harbour and the landing stage of for the ferry boat. On the opposite side the small sandy stripe of the sea side beach Praia da Culatra-Mar comes into view.

The island is situated to the east of Ilha da Culatra, which you can see in the backgrond. The little habitation and a campign ground are located at the western corner of the Ilha da Armona and can be accessed by ferry boat only. The popular beach Praia da Armona-Mar is on the sea side behind the settlement.

The long and flat sandy beach is situated on the sea side of the western corner of the island, opposite the Ilha da Culatra. It can be accessed by foot from the settlement and the quay of the ferry boats located on the other side of the island on the lagoon.

This family friendly beach "Praia da Fuzeta-Ria" is one of the few beaches of the Ria Formosa situated inside the lagoon on the mainland. Most beaches in this area are located on the seaside of the islands, well protected by large sandy dunes.
